The Norcal Young Alum group was established to promote contact and interaction among young Wellesley Alums moving to or living in the Bay Area, and to facilitate a useful network for social and professional purposes. Many of the Young Alum events are co-sponsored with other young alum organizations in the Bay Area to widen the networking effect.
The following events are regularly scheduled in collaboration with various other academic or professional organizations. All Wellesley alums are more than welcome to attend:
- YABA (Young Alumni of the Bay Area) Events
Young Alumni of the Bay Area, or YABA, is an informal association of graduates in the Bay Area from various universities and colleges across the country (including Wellesley, Berkeley, Brown, Cornell, Georgetown, Duke, Harvard, MIT, NYU, Princeton, Smith, Stanford, Tulane, Vassar, and several others). The purpose of YABA is to hold social and community service events on a regular basis that give participating alumni a chance to meet other alumni in the area. A calendar of YABA events, including the monthly YABA Happy Hour, can be found on YABA's calendar page. Additional information about participation with YABA can be requested on YABA's sign-up page, and you can sign up for the YABA mailing list through Yahoo Groups on the Yahoo Groups page.
- Harvard Business School Happy Hours
All members of the NorCal Wellesley Young Alum list are invited to join in on the HBS Club of Northern California monthly happy hours as part of an effort to coordinate joint events among San Francisco area alumni groups. These happy hours alternate between the peninsula and the city each month to accommodate a wider range of people. We will try to keep you informed via email of these events, which usually occur the third Thursday of every month, but for additional information, email the organizer Sean Jacobsohn.
- Digital Eve San Francisco
All members of the NorCal Wellesley Young Alum list are also invited to join events sponsored by Digital Eve, a global, non-profit organization for women in new media and digital technology. As a women-focused and community-based organization, DigitalEve draws upon the collective strength of its rapidly growing worldwide network of local chapters to create a united voice that recognizes and emphasizes the influence of women in the field of new media technology - at all levels of involvement, ages, cultures, and abilities. The San Francisco chapter was founded in February and information on events can be found at Digital Eve SF's website.
- Norcal Wellesley Young Alum Brunch
The Norcal Wellesley Club hosts a Young Alum Brunch each year to get young alums together for fun. We will definitely keep you posted regarding the date and time of the brunch each year and definitely hope that you can attend!
For any additional information on Young Alum activities, please feel free to email Hima Sunkara, the Norcal Young Alum Coordinator. (Please include Hima's name in the subject line of your email.)
