Wellesley Competes at ECAC Rowing Championships

WORCESTER, MASS. - The Wellesley College crew team competed at the ECAC National Invitational Regatta on Saturday and Sunday. The Blue Crew's efforts at the race were highlighted by a silver medal performance from Wellesley's novice eight boat.
Wellesley's novice boat used a strong preliminary performance to
advance to Sunday's grand final. In the finals, the Blue took second place overall with a time of 7:42.18. Wellesley fell to only Simmons College and their time defeated boats from Ithaca, Holy Cross, Smith and Mount Holyoke.
"I am incredibly proud of the way my crew raced today," commented novice coach Becca Carlton. "They finished with thier strongest race of the season and came away with a silver medal in a very competitive novice field. I couldn't have asked for a better ending to a stellar year. I am contiously impressed with the hard work and dedication that all of my rowers put into this season!"
In the varsity eight race, Wellesley competed in the fourth-level finale coming in first with a time of 07:33. The Blue defeated both Vassar and RIT in the heat.
In second varsity action, the Blue ended their day in the third-level finale where they finished first in 7:55. The Blue defeated the University of Mary Washington, Mount Holyoke, Hamilton and Skidmore.
Wellesley's third varsity boat competed in the petite final taking sixth place in a time of 7:51.
