Wellesley Rowers Earn CRCA Postseason Honors
WELLESLEY, Mass. - The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced its postseason All-American teams and academic honors on Tuesday. Wellesley was represented by two rowers who were recognized for their achievements during the 2008-09 season.
Senior Jacqueline Lewandowski (Chicago, IL) was named a second-team All-American for her performance in the first varsity boat this season. She becomes the third Wellesley rower named to the All-American team during head coach Tessa Spillane's tenure. All-American candidates are nominated by their institution, and are selected based on their season record, strength of schedule, 2k score, and coach's recommendation.
Lewandowski also earned National Scholar-Athlete honors to go with her All-American nod. Her third-straight Academic selection, she is one of only eight Division III rowers in the nation who earned both All-American and National Scholar-Athlete honors.
Lewandowski is joined by junior Kate Spelman (Scituate, MA) who earned her second National Scholar-Athlete honor. National Scholar-Athletes are recognized in their second through fourth years of eligibility for maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher during their career.
