Wellesley Cross Country Competes at New England Intercollegiate Championships

Results

BOSTON, Mass. - Running against New England's best Division I, II and III colleges and universities, the Wellesley cross country team placed 34th out of 45 teams at the New England Intercollegiate Championships in Boston's Franklin Park.

The Blue finished with a team score of 921, placing fifth among the NEWMAC teams that competed, behind MIT (14th), Springfield (24th), Wheaton (32nd) and Smith (33rd), and ahead of WPI (37th) and Mt. Holyoke (42nd). Babson, Clark and Coast Guard did not participate.

Wellesley's six finishers were Jessica Weng (151st in 20:03), Hannah Sholder (173rd in 20:13), Amy Damon (197th in 20:30), Kate Watson (203rd in 20:35), Cailey Stevens (207th in 20:38) and Ashley Muller (226th in 20:57); all six posted personal bests for the tough Franklin Park 5000-meter course. Katie Gosling became ill during the race and did not finish. There were 300 finishers in the Varsity race, limited to the top seven runners from each team.

Wellesley is back in action on October 18th running in the Seven Sisters Championships at Smith College at 11:00am.
