Wellesley College Cross Country Places Second at Pop Crowell Invitational

Results

WENHAM, Mass. –  The Wellesley College cross country team got podium finishes from Amy Damon (Livermore, ME), Jessica Weng (Paramus, NJ) and Katie Watson (Olympia, WA) en route to a second place showing at the Pop Crowell Invitational hosted by Gordon College.

Damon, a senior, ran the 5K race in a time of 19:46, good for 8th place out of 276 runners. Her classmate, Weng, finished 10th with a time of 19:48 while Watson, also a senior, took 14th in a time of 19:57. 

All five of the Blue's scoring runners finished in the top-25.  After the trio of seniors, next across the line for Wellesley were senior Hannah Sholder (Pittsburgh, PA) and junior Katie Gosling (Palo Alto, CA). Sholder placed 23rd with a time of 20:16 while Gosling finished 25th overall in 20:25.

In the team standings, Wellesley finished with 75 points, behind only Westfield State (49 points) in the field of 25 teams. 

Up next for the Blue, the team will run in the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday at 12:00PM.
