Wellesley's Randelle Boots Named Indoor Track All-American
First-Year Places Third in Mile

GREENCASTLE, Ind.–  First-year Randelle Boots (Seekonk, MA) became Wellesley College's first track All-American on Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Division III NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Boots took third place in the mile run at the meet hosted by DePauw University.

Boots finished the run in a time of 4:58.04, behind seniors Marie Borner of Bethel (4:50.20) and Lauren Reich of DePauw (4:57.68). She was the top New England finisher, besting runners from Amherst, Colby and Tufts.

Earlier this season, Boots became the first Wellesley runner to break five minutes in the mile. She entered the NCAA Championships ranked sixth in the event and took third place in the preliminary run.

Boots also qualified for the NCAA Championships in Cross Country, where she ranked 82nd overall, ninths among first-years. She finished the fall cross country season with All-Region, NEWMAC All-Conference and All-Seven Sisters honors.
