Wellesley's Randelle Boots Named NEWMAC Cross Country Runner of the Week
BABSON PARK, Mass. – Wellesley College first-year Randelle Boots (Seekonk, MA) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference(NEWMAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the period ending October 4, 2009.
Boots won the 2009 Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College on Saturday. The rookie bested a field of 290 competitors running the 5K race in a time of 18:55. Boots' performance was especially significat as it was the largest race ever won by a Wellesley student-athlete. Her performance also led Wellesley to the team title, cementing a first-place finish for the Blue amongst 27 teams.
Wellesley cross country next competes at the New England Intercollegiate Championships at Franklin Park on October 10th.
