Championship Information
Entry List
WELLESLEY, Mass. – Two Wellesley College cross country runners will compete in the upcoming NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. First-year Randelle Boots (Seekonk, MA) and senior Clare Egan (Cape Elizabeth, ME) have each earned automatic qualification in the 1,500-meter event.
Boots and Egan both earned their spots in the Championship with stellar performances in the 1,500 at the ECAC Division III Track and Field Championships. Boots took first place in a time of 4:29.33, becoming Wellesley's first ECAC Track Champion. Egan surpassed a personal best with a 4:30.74, good for second place in the event. The 1-2 finish guaranteed both runners automatic entry into the NCAA Championships, while also propelling Wellesley into a tie for 10th-place (out of 72 institutions) in the team standings.
Going into the NCAA Championships, Boots has the nation's ninth best 1,500 time, while Egan heads into the competition ranked 10th. This winter, Boots earned Wellesley's first All-America honor in track, taking third place in the mile at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. Egan also qualified for an NCAA Championship event this winter, competing in the NCAA Skiing Championships, where she single-handedly led Wellesley to a 20th-place team finish at the all-division event.
The championships will be held May 27-29 at Baldwin-Wallace College's Finnie Stadium in Berea, Ohio. Trials for the 1,500 will be held on Thursday, May 27th at 4:15pm, while finals will be on Saturday, May 29th at 1:20pm.
