Wellesley College Field Hockey Downs Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY– Wellesley College scored three time in the first half as the Blue downed Vassar 3-0 on day one of the Seven Sisters Field Hockey Classic at Mount Holyoke College.
           
The Blue got on the board nineteen minutes into the game when Kate Cushing (Danvers, MA) scored off of an assist by Molly Morrow (Bow, NH) from a corner set. 

After a timeout from Vassar, Wellesley went back on the attack with a series of six shots and four penalty corners in a span of three minutes which culminated in a goal from Katie Sang (Cupertino, CA) that was assisted by Callie Lekas (Brewster, MA).

With a 2-0 lead already on the board, Wellesley scored once more in the first half on a goal from Morrow off of her own rebound. 

In the second half, Vassar threatened to score but Wellesley goalkeeper Emily Hewitt () stopped both shots on goal and the Blue took the game 3-0.

Vassar falls to 1-3 on the year and will face Smith College tomorrow at 2:00 pm.

With the win, Wellesley moves to 2-1 on the season and will take on Elms College tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. in day two of the Seven Sisters Classic.
