Wellesley Tennis Falls to Top-Ranked Washington and Lee

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Wellesley College tennis team opened the spring season with a hard-fought loss to Washington and Lee at the Fab Five Tournament in Lexington, Virginia.  The Generals, the number-one team in the country and the defending Division III NCAA Champions, improve to 12-0 on the season, while Wellesley falls to 10-2.

The Blue dropped the match 8-1 with Wellesley's win coming from Jenna Mezin (Haiku, HI) at number one singles.  Mezin took down Katie Tabb in straight sets, 7-5, 7-5.

At number five singles, first-year Shivani Saxena (Milan, Italy) kept it close by winning the first set 6-3, but dropped the deciding third set in tiebreaker 10-7.

Wellesley tennis is back in action at the Fab Five Tournament on Thursday with a match against Gustavus Adolphus.
