WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College will host college groups from around the Northeast to sing in Gospel Jam 2006, with the theme, “Your Love Makes Me Sing,” Saturday, April 29, at 8 pm in Jewett Arts Center Auditorium.

"Gospel Jam is going to be amazing this year with 12 a capella groups coming together for a spectacular concert,” said organizer Joyce Shen, a Wellesley College sophomore and member of Wellesley’s group, Awaken the Dawn.

“Awaken the Dawn consists of 10 Wellesley women at the moment, and we are led musically by our pitch, senior Grace Cheong,” Shen said. “We are primarily an evangelical Christian a capella group.”

In addition to Awaken the Dawn, other singing groups include Amherst College’s Terras Irradient, Boston College’s Against the Current, Brown University/Rhode Island School of Design's With One Voice, Boston University’s Mustard Seed, Carnegie Mellon University’s Joyful Noise, Dartmouth College’s X.ado, Harvard University’s Under Construction, Johns Hopkins University’s Adoremus, Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Cross Products, Rutger's First Light and SUNY Binghamton's Koinonia.

Each group will perform three to four songs. The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, e-mail Shen at jshen2@wellesley.edu.
