“It didn’t feel any different,” said Choi, a member of Wellesley College class of 2006. “I don’t really think I’ll ever let the thought of playing for money get in the way of just hitting golf shots. I love the game because it’s just that –- a game.”
Choi qualified last December to play in the Futures Tour, which is sponsored by the LPGA Tour and a level directly below it.
Her first tournament as a professional was only part of Choi’s exciting winter. She was also one of 12 women chosen to compete in the ninth season of “The Big Break,” a golf reality show. More than 25,000 professional women golfers from all over the world auditioned to compete on the show, which allows its contestants to compete for an exemption into LPGA Tour events, cash, a car and other prizes. The show will help the winner take one step closer to her dream of playing on the LPGA Tour. The first episode will air April 15 on The Golf Channel.
