Transportation

An emphasis on a pedestrian campus has become, yet again, a high priority of the college, as was noted earlier in the document. Access to public transportation is available nearby in the town of Wellesley and college contracted bus services provide mass transit alternatives to various locations for students, faculty and staff. We are over a 90% residential campus.

Public Transportation

There are shuttles on the hour that go to and from Boston and Cambridge. They are free during the weekdays. There is also an Olin-Babson-Wellesley shuttle every 30 minutes to transport students.

Zip Cars

We now have 6 Zip Cars at the College and 3 of them are hybrid vehicles. This program is a viable and flexible alternative to maintaining several vehicles in the College’s fleet, and is also a sustainable form of transportation for students on campus. The ZipCar program was co-founded by a Wellesley alumna. Go Wellesley!

Bike Share Program

In 2012, the Office of Sustainability implemented a bike share program on campus. We initially ordered 15 brand new bikes with an internal gear system, a bike rack, and a repair station all funded by the Class of 1957. The Outing club was awarded a Green Grant in 2011 for this proposal. 10 more bikes and another bike rack was added to east campus in 2013. Anyone on campus is allowed to participate, and the program is free of charge. By signing a waiver and agreeing to wear a helmet at all times, participants may check out bikes keys at campus police with their OneCard and have 24 hours to return them. The 15 bikes are located on the main floor of the garage in the back right-hand corner.
