WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College Head
Fencing Coach Gamil Kaliouby has been named the 2003-2004 Northeast

seven-year Wellesley career that he has received the honor.
Kaliouby led Wellesley to an 8-6 overall record and a 6-4 record
against Northeast Fencing Conference opponents. Wellesley,
a Division III school, is one of 43 schools across all divisions
– NCAA Division I, II and III – that sponsors women’s

College, Brown University, Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, Sacred Heart,
St. John’s, Yale, Brandeis, City College of New York, MIT,
NYU, Tufts, and Vassar.
Two of Kaliouby’s fencers earned Northeast Fencing Conference
All-Star honors for the 2003-2004 season: junior captain Irena Inman
(Bedford, N.H.) and first-year Sarah Abraham (Austin, Texas). As
a team Wellesley placed seventh at the 2004 New England Championships.
Kaliouby is a member of the United States Fencing Coaches Association
and holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Ain Shims University
in Cairo, Egypt as well as a Master’s degree in military service
from the Military Academy, also in Cairo. He is an internationally
rated director in foil (Class A) and epee (Class B). He has served
as a member of the NCAA Northeast Regional Advisory Committee for
men’s and women’s fencing from 1993-1995.
