Keri O’Meara became Wellesley’s
inaugural Head Softball Coach in the spring of 2003 and
has led Wellesley to two successful season in 2004-2005
and 2005-2006.
In 2006, O’Meara led the team to a NEWMAC tournament
berth and placed fourth overall in the Conference. The
team also received an Eastern College Athletic Conference
(ECAC) Tournament bid for the second consecutive season.
O’Meara comes to Wellesley from Dartmouth College
where she was the Assistant Softball Coach. At Dartmouth,
she was responsible for coordinating all aspects of recruiting.
She also assisted with practice/game coaching, scouting,
game preparation, team travel, strength and conditioning
and fundraising.
Prior to Dartmouth, O’Meara was the Assistant Coach
at Bloomsburg University. While obtaining her master’s
degree in Curriculum and Instruction, she assisted with
all aspects of the program including recruiting, practice
preparation, travel and fundraising. While at Bloomsburg,
the team finished as the number four ranked team in Division
II, winning the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship
for the second consecutive season.
Before entering the college coaching ranks, O’Meara
spent five years coaching and teaching at the high school
level (West Essex Regional High School, Caldwell, N.J.;
Long Branch High School, Long Branch, N.J.)
O’Meara also serves as an Assistant Professor of
Physical Education at Wellesley and teaches in the required
physical education program. She earned her Bachelor of
Arts degree in Physical Education from Montclair State
University in 1996. While at Montclair State, she was a
NCAA Division III All-America softball selection, a four-year
starter and standout on Montclair’s soccer team,
and the college’s representative for NCAA Woman of
the Year.
