Cross Country Team Practices-Various Venues
Emergency Personnel
Practice: Coaches are the designated first responders. Certified athletic trainer available via emergency phones on campus (x2388).
Emergency Communication
If practice is on campus, there are various emergency telephones to call Campus Police at x5555 (who will notify EMS if needed). If the athlete is off campus, activate EMS using a cell phone or nearest accessible telephone.
Emergency Equipment
Team medical kit with the coach. Other emergency equipment will be with the ambulance.
Role of First Responder
It is assumed that the most qualified person on site will assume care of the injured athlete until EMS arrives. This person will also designate and direct others in the first response team.
- Initiate care of injured or ill student-athlete or other victim.
- Emergency equipment retrieval by designated person.
- Activate EMS. Call Campus Police at x5555. State the number of injured persons, condition, treatment being given, specific directions to the scene.
- Event manager or designated person directs EMS to scene.
Venue Directions:
Will vary depending on location of the injured student-athlete.
