Towne Field House Venue
Basketball, volleyball, tennis, indoor practices for soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, golf, and other events.
Emergency Personnel
Contests: Certified athletic trainer on duty, athletic training aide, event manager, head and assistant coach if needed.
Practice: Coach, certified athletic trainer on duty available by phone (front desk phonex2388) during normal regular season practice hours. If practice is conductedwhen a certified athletic trainer is not present, the COACH is the designatedfirst responder.
Emergency Communication
Campus Police– The “Red” telephone at the base of the entrance ramp to the field house is a direct line to Campus Police. Lift the phone and wait. Campus Police will notify EMS if needed. Athletic training room– Use the front desk phone (x2388).
Emergency Equipment
Team medical kit on site. Splints, crutches, extremity immobilizers (on site for contests) available from the athletic training room when the athletic training staff is on duty. Spine boards and other emergency equipment will be aboard the ambulance. The response time from call is approximately 4 minutes.
Role of First Responder
It is assumed that the most qualified person on site will assume care of the injured athlete until EMS arrives. This person will also designate and direct others in the first response team.
- Initiate care of injured or ill student-athlete or other victim.
- Emergency equipment retrieval by designated person.
- Activate EMS. Call Campus Police at x5555. State the number of injured persons, condition, treatment being given, specific directions to the scene.
- Event Manager or designated person directs EMS to scene. Prop flagpole doors open and wait forEMS.
Venue Directions:
Towne Field House is on Central St., Rt. 135. Access to the venue is viathe parking lot entrance at the west end of the field house. Drive aroundthe field house, up to the flagpoles / stairs and enter doors to the left.
