Emergency Personnel
Contests:Certified athletic trainer on duty, athletic training aide, event manager, headand assistant coach if needed.
Practice: Coach, certified athletic trainer available during normal regular season practicehours. If practice is conducted when certified athletic trainer is not-present,the COACH is the designated first responder.
Emergency Communication
Telephones in the administrative offices. If none of these phones are accessible, use phone at the KSC Front Desk. Campus Police emergency number x5555 or the athletic training room x2388.
Emergency Equipment
Team medical kit on site. Splints, crutches, extremity immobilizers available from athletic training room when athletic training staff is on duty. Spine boards and other emergency equipment will be aboard the ambulance. The response time from call is approximately 4 minutes.
Role of First Responder
It is assumed that the most qualified person on site will assume care of the injured athlete until EMS arrives. This person will also designate and direct others in the first response team.
- Initiate care of injured or ill student-athlete or other victim.
- Emergency equipment retrieval by designated person.
- Activate EMS. Call Campus Police at x5555. State the number of injured persons, condition, treatment being given, specific directions to the scene.
- Event Manager or designated person directs EMS to scene.
Venue Directions:
Multi-Purpose gym is on the 2nd floor of the Keohane Sports Center. Via Central St, Rt. 135. The parking lot entrance at the west end of the field house. Drive around the field house, up past the flagpoles/stairs. Enter the athlete only entrance on left; go right up the ramp to the elevator. At the top floor, go right out of the elevator, across the main hall and straight ahead to the Multi-Purpose gym, Room #222.
