Thomas Notches Double-Double in Loss to Conn. College

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Junior Julia Thomas (Concord, CA) recorded 11 points and added a game-high 16 rebounds but it wasn't enough as the Wellesley Blue fell to Connecticut College 60-39 on day one of the Land of Magic Classic in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The Blue were held to just seven field goals in the first half, while the 8-2 Camels built a 29-17 lead at the break. Wellesley battled back in the second half while shooting 35% from the floor, but Connecticut College held on for the 60-39 win.

Thomas led Wellesley with a double-double while Jessica Duff (Milton, Abingdon, UK) had eight points and five rebounds. Rounding out the action for the Blue, Courtney Richter (Sinking Springs, MD) recorded seven points and five boards, Courtney Pelley (Leiscester, MA) added five points and five rebounds and Katie Martore (Great Falls, VA) had three assists, two steals and five rebounds.

Wellesley is back in action on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. against Hamline University as the Land of Magic Classic continues.
