Thomas Shines in Wellesley Loss to Hamline

Box Score

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Junior Julia Thomas (Concord, CA) scored her second straight double-double for the Blue as Wellesley fell to Hamline University 69-34 on the final day of the Land of Magic Classic in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Once again, a slow start proved to be the downfall for Wellesley as Hamline took a 41-14 lead after the first half of play.  The Pipers combined strong shooting (67%) with a tight defense to take the 27-point advantage into the locker room.

In the second half, the Blue improved their field goal percentage to 22% but were a cold 1-10 from behind the arc as Hamline held on for the 69-34 win.

For the second-straight game, Thomas pulled down at least 15 boards and combined her rebound total with a team-high 12 points.  Also contributing for Wellesley were Courtney Pelley (Leiscester, MA), Katie Martore (Great Falls, VA) and Courtney Richter (Sinking Springs, MD) who added five points apiece.

Wellesley (3-7) will be back in action in the new year with a home game on Wednesday, January 9th against Springfield College at 7:00pm.
