Wellesley Basketball Falls to New England College

PLYMOUTH, NH – The Wellesley College basketball team dropped their 2007-08 season opener to New England College, 64-57 in the first round of the Plymouth State Tip-Off Tournament. 

The Blue kept it close in the first half only down by one at 28-27 at the half.  However, the Pilgrims got 16 points each from forward Katie Plankey and guard Ashley Hutton to lead New England to the 64-57 victory.

Wellesley's Courtney Richter (Sinking Spring, PA) led all scorers with 17 points while Julia Thomas (Concord, CA) picked up a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. Junior Jessica Duff (Milton, Abington, UK) also netted 12 to pace the Blue.

Wellesley will take on Daniel Webster tomorrow at 2:00pm in the consolation game of the tournament.
