Duff Leads Wellesley to Victory Over Albertus Magnus

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Jessica Duff (Milton, Abingdon, UK) scored 26 points and added 15 rebounds as the Wellesley basketball defeated Albertus Magnus College on the road, 65-59, on Saturday afternoon.

The win improves Wellesley to 4-2 on the season while Albertus Magnus drops to 5-4.

The Blue held a 25-23 lead at the half but Albertus Magnus took a 6-point lead with 10 minutes to play in the game. However, strong second-half shooting from Wellesley sealed the game for the Blue.

Albertus was lead by sophomore center Nikki McClease (New Haven, CT) who had a game high 27 points and 14 rebounds to go along with 3 assists, 2 blocks, and 3 steals. 

The Blue were led by Duff's 16 points and 15 rebounds while classmate Julia Thomas (Concord, CA) netted 11 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Junior Katie Martore (Great Falls, VA) picked up a season-high 10 points while also notching four assists and three steals.

Wellesley is next in action on Tuesday evening, hosting their lone home game in 2008. The Blue host Rhode Island College at 7:00pm on Wellesley College Employee Appreciation Night. Albertus Magnus continues it’s play on January 7, 2009 at St. Joe’s in Brooklyn, NY at 7:30 PM.
