Becca Kimball Named NEWMAC, ECAC Player of the Week

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Wellesley College first-year basketball player Becca Kimball (Weston, MA) took home two weekly awards for the period of play ending January 24, 2010.  She was named the New England Women's Becca Kimballand Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week as well as the ECAC Division III New England Player of the Week.

Kimball averaged 25.5 points and 12 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Blue.  The rookie recorded 21 points and 11 rebounds in a 61-59 upset over Wheaton on Wednesday.  She followed that with career-bests of 30 points and 13 rebounds in a tight 66-61 loss at Smith on Saturday, both totals surpassing team highs for Wellesley this season.  For the week, Kimball shot 53% from the field, while also adding five steals and three assists. 

On the season, Kimball leads the Blue in scoring with 16.1 points per game and rebounding with 6.9 boards per game.
