Wellesley Crew Records Third-Place Finish at Textile River
LOWELL, Mass. – In their first race of the fall season, the Wellesley College crew team's effort at the Textile River Regatta in Lowell, Massachusetts was highlighted by a third place finish in the women's club 8 event.
Entering three varsity boats, the Blue's first varsity took third overall with a time of 21:29.0 in the 17-boat race. The Blue finished behind only Simmons College (21:12) and the University of Vermont (21:16.2).
Wellesley also got a fifth place finish from the second varsity boat. The Blue "B" crew finished in a time of 21:50.3. Rounding out the club 8 race, the Wellesley also got a strong showing from the third varsity crew who finished 11th in a time of 22:19.8.
Each of Wellesley's varsity entries finished within one minute of each other and not more than a minute and eight seconds off of the winning time. In addition, all four of the Wellesley boats improved their best times on the Textile River course.
In the novice race, the Blue finished with a time of 26:13.4, with UMass winning the event in 22:59.5.
Wellesley will next hit the water on Sunday, October 12th at the Quinsigamond Snakebite Regatta in Worcester, Mass.
