Wellesley Rowers Earn ECAC Honors

WELLESLEY, Mass. - The Wellesley College crew team took home several ECAC honors, as announced by Commissioner Rudy Keeling and the ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championships Board of Stewards.

Senior Kate Spelman (Scituate, MA) earned ECAC All-Conference honors, after leading the Blue as the stroke of the Varsity Eight. Spelman, a NEWMAC All-Conference selection earlier this month, is also a three-time CRCA All-Academic team member.

Wellesley also had five members of the team named to the ECAC/Stewar's All-Academic Team. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35.

The Blue saw Kate Spelman honored, as well as, juniors Hannah Woodruff (Longmeadow, MA) and Lauren Baker (Bedford, NH), and sophomores Shernaz Dossabhoy (Belmont, MA) and Conisha Cooper (Glen Ridge, NJ).

Wellesley Crew will next compete at the 2010 NCAA Division III National Championships to be held May 28-30 at Sacramento State Aquatic Center in Gold River, CA.
