Wellesley Crew Competes Against WPI, Bates, Trinity, Holy Cross, Rochester
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Wellesley College crew team completed their second straight day of racing competing against four teams at Worcester's Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday. The Blue battled WPI, Bates, Trinity, Holy Cross and the University of Rochester in a 2,000-meter course.
In the Varsity eight race, Wellesley posted a time of 7:34.6, good for fifth place. Bates got the win with a 7:12.6. The Blue finished four seconds ahead of NEWMAC-rival WPI.
The second varsity team picked up a big win over Division-I Holy Cross, finishing in a time of 7:40.1. The Blue took third place overall in the race, narrowly finishing behind Trinity and Bates.
In novice action, both of Wellesley's boats raced in the same competition. The first novice eight took third in 8:12.3 while the second novice boat finished sixth.
Wellesley will return to Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday to compete at the 2010 NEWMAC Championships, hosted by WPI.
