Wellesley Crew Earns Top-Ten National Ranking

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Fresh off a successful performance at the NEWMAC Championships, the Wellesley College crew team earned a number-eight ranking in the latest Division III Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) poll.
The Blue rank eighth-overall amongst all Division III programs, the team's highest ranking since the 2002-2003 season in which Wellesley held the #1 spot and earned a trip to the NCAA National Championships.
In the most recent regional rankings, Wellesley placed fourth overall as a team, behind only Williams, Bates and Trinity.
Led by team captains, Hannah Dornbusch (Madison, WI), Kate Spelman (Scituate, MA) and Gabby Wakeman (Saratoga Springs, NY), the Blue have enjoyed a solid 2009-10 season. Wellesley took home first place at the Seven Sisters Championships this fall and also rowed to a second place finish at last week's NEWMAC Championships. At NEWMAC's, the first varsity eight took second, just .3 seconds off of Smith, while the second varsity eight finished first in their race.
