Wellesley Crew Opens 2009-10 Season at Textile River Regatta
LOWELL, Mass. – The Wellesley College crew team opened the 2009-10 season with a strong showing at the 30th annual Textile River Regatta, held on the Merrimack River in Lowell, Mass.
Wellesley had three total entries at the ebent, two boats in the Club 8 race and one in the Novice 8 race.
In the club eight, the Blue Varsity "A" boat took third place overall in a time of 15:54.2, finishing behind only the University of Vermont (15:39.8) and Simmons College (15:41.2). The Wellesley "B" boat also competed, placing 12th out of 15 boats in a time of 16:52.9.
The Wellesley novice boat also made a strong showing, racing to a silver medal finish in their event. After a slow start, the Blue passed four boats and posted a time of
18:17.0, finishing behind only WPI in the seven-team race.
Wellesley will next hit the water on Saturday, October 10th at the Quinsigamond Snakebite Regatta in Worcester, Mass.
