Kristen Wilson Named Wellesley College Assistant Athletic Trainer
WELLESLEY, Mass. - Wellesley College Director of Athletics Bridget Belgiovine is pleased to announce the hiring of Kristen Wilson as assistant athletic trainer.
“We look forward to Kristen joining our department in support of student athlete well being,” said Belgiovine. “Her motivation in the field of athletic training and excellent clinical skills are a great combination when working with our student-athletes.”
Wilson holds a master’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst where she served as the athletic trainer for both the women’s lacrosse and the men’s soccer teams. She earned a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in athletic training from Westfield State College where she was a student athletic trainer. In addition, Wilson also served as an approved clinical instructor at both Westfield State and Springfield and was co-coordinator of student interns at UMass.
"I'd like to thank the whole athletic department for giving me this new opportunity, it is a positive step towards my professional goals," said Wilson. "I am very excited and enthusiastic about becoming a part of the Wellesley family and eager to meet the new group of talented female athletes.”
Wilson previously held positions with Amonte Sports as an athletic trainer at women’s lacrosse camps and South Boston Pop-Warner Football where she provided medical coverage for home events.
Certified by the National Athletic Trainer's Association, she holds AED and CPR Professional Rescuer certifications with the American Red Cross and is an Emergency Medical Technician.
Wilson joins head athletic trainer Jenn Grunzweig on the staff at Wellesley, which provides service for more than 200 athletes. The Blue compete in basketball, crew, cross country, fencing, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, squash, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball.
In addition to her duties at Wellesley, Wilson will be pursuing a PhD in Health Professions Education at Simmons College.
