Assistant Coaches: Sushner, Provencher

Assistant Coach Rachael Sushner

B.S., Skidmore College

Rachael Sushner enters her first season as assistant soccer coach at Wellesley.  She graduated with honors from Skidmore College in 2009 earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Business, and Sociology.

On the field for the Skidmore Thoroughbreds, Sushner was a four-year starter and captained the team in her senior year.  During her career, she was the Liberty League Rookie of the Year, named to the Liberty league All-Conference First Team, and the All-New York Region First Team. She led the team in scoring in 2007 and 2008, and helped the team advance it to the Liberty League playoffs each of her four years.  She was also a three time recipient of the Skidmore Thoroughbred Society Academic Award.  

In her senior campaign, Sushner's squad advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time in over 15 years and were ranked 25th in the country in the NCAA postseason poll.  She finished her career with a 49-19-12 record, scoring 17 game-winning goals, and capped the experience as the 2009 recipient of Female Athlete of the Year Award.

A Potomac, MD native, Sushner captained the Winston Churchill High School team and played club soccer for DCST Pride. At Churchill Sushner was awarded All-State MD Second Team and All-Metropolitan Honorable Mention.  She has worked with youth of all ages throughout her career and directed Skidmore’s Soccer Without Borders camp in the spring of 2009.

This summer Sushner signed a semi-professional contact with the Adirondack Lynx, of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), and serves as co-captain.


Assistant Coach Taryn Provencher

B.S., Syracuse University

Taryn Provencher enters her fourth season as assistant soccer coach at Wellesley. 

Provencher works full-time at Northeastern University as the Assistant Director of Compliance & Student-Athlete Welfare.  Before joining the staff at Northeastern, she worked for a nonprofit called Sport in Society, connecting college athletes with service projects focused on urban youth around Boston.  Sport in Society also ran diversity and violence prevention trainings with Boston high schools and colleges around the city. 

A former Division-I athlete at Syracuse University, during her career she led the Orange to a ranking of 13th in the country.  Syracuse also made a run at the national title before falling to eventual National Champion, Santa Clara.
