Wellesley Soccer Downs Framingham State 1-0

WELLESLEY, MA – Sophomore Catherine Caruso (Belmont, MA) netted the game-winner in the 82nd minute as the Wellesley College soccer team defeated Framingham State College 1-0 on a damp Saturday afternoon in Wellesley.
The Blue had several opportunities to score in the first half but couldn’t get the ball past Ram’s goalkeeper Tara Cavalieri who made three of her five total saves in the first half.
In the second half, Wellesley launched several shots over the net before Caruso scored off of an assist from Courtney Callahan (Scottsdale, AZ) that broke a scoreless tie and gave the Blue the lead for good.
In goal for Wellesley, Katie Martore (Great Falls, VA) picked up her fourth shut-out of the season making three stops.
Framingham State falls to 2-2 on the year. The Rams will next take on Babson at home on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
The win, Wellesley’s third in four games, gives the Blue a 3-1-1 record on the season. Wellesley is idle until Tuesday when the Blue travel to Brandeis for a 7:00 game.
