Krasker Scores Three Times in Wellesley Win Over Simmons

Box Score

WELLESLEY, MA – In just the second game of her college career, Wellesley College first-year Jennie Krasker (Newton, MA) picked up a hat trick en route to a 4-0 win for the Blue over Simmons College in the Wellesley Invitational. The win marked the first career victory for Wellesley first-year head coach Tony Mohammed.

Krasker broke a scoreless tie in the 35th minute when she scored off of an assist from Courtney Callahan (Scottsdale, AZ) to put the Blue up 1-0.  Krasker’s second goal of the game came just eight minutes later when she scored off of a breakaway, assisted by senior Amelia Manderscheid (St. Paul, MN).  The goal put the Blue up 2-0 at the half.

In the second period, Krasker needed less than four minutes to tally her third goal of the game and the Blue led 3-0.  Later, in the 75th minute, Wellesley senior Jennifer Lau (Honolulu, HI) found the back of the net to push the lead to 4-0.

Simmons goalie Alma Barnes notched six saves in the losing effort.

For the Blue, sophomore Katie Matore (Great Falls, VA) picked up four saves as Wellesley advances to tomorrow’s championship game at 2:30 p.m.  The Blue will take on Montclair State, who picked up a 2-0 win over Endicott.

Simmons and Endicott will play the consolation game tomorrow at 12:00 noon.
