WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Wellesley soccer team picked up their fourth-straight conference win with a 2-0 victory over NEWMAC rival MIT on Saturday afternoon.  The result moves the Blue to 6-2-2 (4-0 NEWMAC) on the season, while the Engineers fall to 3-7-1 (1-2-1 NEWMAC).

MIT held an 8-4 shot advantage in the first half, but Wellesley goalkeeper Katie Martore (Great Falls, VA) picked up four saves to keep the score 1-0 in favor of the Blue at the break.

After over 20 minutes of scoreless soccer to open the second half, the Blue stretched their lead to 2-0 when Farnsworth picked up an unassisted goal in the 66th minute.  Wellesley held on to the 2-0 lead and picked up their fourth NEWMAC win this season.

For the game, MIT held a 15-9 advantage in shots.

Martore finished the day with seven saves en route to her fifth shutout of the season while MIT keeper Stephanie Brenman (Newton, MA) made two stops for the Engineers.

Both teams will return to action on Tuesday with NEWMAC contests. MIT will play host to Coast Guard at 4:00pm while Wellesley travels to WPI for a 7:00pm start.
