Wellesley Battles UMass-Dartmouth to 1-1 Draw

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA- Wellesley sophomore forward Jennie Krasker (Newton, Mass.) and UMass-Dartmouth senior forward Sarah Killingbeck (Norton, MA) traded goals as Wellesley battled the the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth to a 1-1 double overtime tie in a non-conference match at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Wednesday.
Killingbeck’s header off a cross from freshman midfielder Rebecca Dillon (Warwick, RI) gave the Corsairs a 1-0 lead at the 18:10 mark of the first half. Krasker volleyed home a cross from Catherine Caruso (Belmont, Mass.) at the top of the 18 yard box in the 54th minute to tie the game. Each team had several chances, but Corsair sophomore goalkeeper Tanya Braga (Hudson, MA) and Wellesley junior goalie Katie Martore (Great Falls, Va.) were equal to the task.
The Corsairs out shot the Blue Pride, 17-15. Braga made five saves to eight for Martore.
UMass Dartmouth is now 1-3-2, while Wellesley is 2-1-2. The Corsairs will return to action when they visit Rhode Island College Saturday. The Blue Pride will host Smith Saturday.
