In-Depth...
- One word that best describes you: Zany
- Role model? My parents
- Favorite aspect about your team: I love how fun being around my team is. Everyone gets along so well that it’s like having your own family at Wellesley in addition to your family at home. When I’m with my team I never stop laughing.
- What is your favorite thing to do before a game? I listen to music. It has to be calm at first so I relax, but as it gets closer to game time it needs to get more and more upbeat. Also, rocking out as a team to Kelly Clarkson is a must before every soccer game.
- What is your dream job? To play for the New York Yankees!
- If you could play any sport that you have never played before, what would it be? Men’s Lacrosse! It’s kind of like football but with the flow of soccer. So cool!
- Goals for the team (future): Soccer: Our goal for next year is to make it to the NEWMAC finals and WIN them. We got further in NEWMACS this year than we have since I’ve been here, but we’re not satisfied yet. Softball: Last year we had a great, exciting season but this year we’re looking for more. We made it to the semi-finals of our region in NCAAs which was an awesome accomplishment. Our first goal for this year is to win NEWMACS again, and then from there, we hope to win our region in the NCAA tournament and make it to the NCAA championship tournament!
- What will life be like in the off-season for you? Life in the off-season is pretty short, since I’m only out of season for about a month. I usually catch up on sleep and schoolwork and enjoy having a little extra time to relax and enjoy the snow!
- What are your plans when you graduate? After I graduate I want to take some time off and maybe do Teach for America. After that I hope to go to medical school or go to graduate school for Classical studies. Or maybe both!
- Who is your favorite professional athlete? Derek Jeter! He’s my idol in life.
- Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I see myself either as a Latin professor or an orthopedic surgeon.
- What do you want to know about the future? Nothing, I just want to live life day by day and be surprised by what happens.
- What does success mean to you? Success means having clear, realistic goals and doing everything possible, giving 110%, living and dying, to achieve those goals. It means finishing a challenge, whether it be in the classroom or on the field, and knowing you have done absolutely everything in your power to prepare for the task and given every last ounce yourself in your effort. Success means no regrets.
- What does it mean to be a student-athlete at Wellesley? Being a student-athlete at Wellesley means balance. It means being a leader in the classroom and on the field, and knowing that at all times you are representing both Wellesley College and Wellesley Athletics. Being an athlete at Wellesley means getting to have fun every day playing sports, but it also means getting a fantastic education and not having to sacrifice education for athletics.
- What is it like being a two-sport athlete? It is busy, but completely worth it. The opportunity to play two-sports is one of the things that most attracted me to Wellesley. At first I thought being a two-sport athlete might be too much to handle, but I’ve come to discover if you can play one sport, you can play two. It means that you must be able to manage your time, and personally, I manage my time best when I’m in season. I focus better on schoolwork in season, so being a two-sport athlete allows me to stay focused in school all the time. But it also gives me two close-knit families and two great sets of friends.
- Something about you that would surprise people: One of my dreams in life is to live out The Endless Summer in real life, following summer as it moves across the world in search of the perfect wave.
- Who is the team’s best dancer? Soccer: Llama (Kathleen Keating). She loves to break it down at team dinners. Softball: Shawna McCool / McCreadie. But we all like to rock out to the music in our heads before every game as a group… It’s a pre-game ritual.
- Nobody knows how much I like…The Spice Girls. Much Love.
