Wellesley Sweeps Babson, 3-0

Wellesley, Mass. – Wellesley Volleyball used dominant outside hitting, chalking up 33 kills with only four errors on 58 attempts, to sweep cross-town rival Babson, 3-0 (30-11, 30-15, 30-24). The win lifts the Blue to 8-3 (4-0 NEWMAC). The Beavers fall to 5-7 (2-2 NEWMAC).

A balanced Wellesley attack was led by Lauren Rasmussen (Bonita, Calif), Murielle Dawdy (Larkspur, Calif.), and Alice Cummings (Talahassee, Fla.), with nine kills each. First-year outside hitter Casi Schwisow (Bellevue, Wash.) chipped in seven kills, while Samantha Du (Houston, Tex.) added six. Senior setter Billie Briones tallied 25 assists, and Emily Peters led all players with 21 digs.

Babson was led by sophomore middle hitter Caitlin O'Neill (Lynnfield, Mass.) with five kills. Laura Duston (Nashua, N.H.) added four kills, while Ashley Tremblay (Middleton, Mass.) and Britt Libby (South Windsor, Conn.) added three each. Shanna Glassner tallied 13 assists and eight digs.

The Blue return to action Friday afternoon at 4:00 at the Tufts Invitational. Babson will take the court on Saturday at 12:30, with a tri-match against Newbury and Saint Joseph's.
