Wellesley Takes Sixth at Hall of Fame Tournament

Northampton, MA -- Wellesley finished sixth in the Hall of Fame Tournament this afternoon, going 2-2 in the prestigious 16-team invitational.  Wellesley began the tournament on Friday with a 3-0 (30-27, 30-24, 30-27) win over Middlebury before dropping a hard-fought second-round match to Tufts 3-0 (30-27, 30-26, 29-31).  In the Gold Bracket on Saturday, the Blue started the day with a convincing 3-0 win over Bowdoin (30-22, 30-22, 30-24), before falling 3-0 (30-18, 30-15, 30-23) to talented Amherst squad. 

Junior outside hitter Jessica Duff had an excellent weekend at the net, notching 54 kills in four matches, good enough for a .358 hitting percentage.  Senior Murielle Dawdy added 37 kills, while Lauren Rasmussen chipped in 23. Billie Briones and Victoria Peng shared setting duties, tallying 72 assists a piece for the weekend.  Libero Emily Peters anchored the backrow, racking up 50 digs in the tournament, while Dawdy and Duff added 40 and 37, respectively.

The Blue return to action at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night, when they host NEWMAC rival Smith College.
