Wellesley 2-0 on Day One of Tufts Invitational

Tufts Invitational Day One Results (PDF)

MEDFORD, Mass -- The fourth annual Tufts Volleyball Invitational did not get off to a good start for the Jumbos, as Wellesley College came back from a two-game deficit to defeat the hosts 3-2 (26-30, 14-30, 30-19, 30-21, 15-13).

Tufts (7-7) jumped out to a 19-9 lead in the first game and won 30-26. Wellesley dropped the second game as well, by a score of 30-14. However, the tide turned as the Blue hung in there to post 30-19 and 30-21 victories to force a fifth and deciding game. It was close throughout, but Wellesley (10-3) won 15-13 in the end to finish off their comeback. The Jumbos had blanked Wellesley at the MIT Invitational last weekend.

Wellesley followed up the five-game thriller with a 3-0 win over Elizabethtown College from Pennsylvania (31-29, 30-27, 30-25). The Blue return to action at Tufts at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, when they face SUNY Brockport.
