Wellesley Volleyball Downs Clark, 3-0
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Wellesley College Blue extended their winning streak to three games with a 3-0 victory over Clark University in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women’s volleyball game played on Tuesday at the Kneller Athletic Center. Game scores were 25-17, 25-15, and 25-18.
With the victory, Wellesley upped its record to 17-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play. Clark dropped to 7-10 (1-5 NEWMAC).
Sophomore Victoria Peng (Diamond Bar, Cali.) led the Blue offense with 33 assists and eight service aces, while senior Emily Peters (Temescal Valley, Pa.) had 13 digs to pace the visitors’ defense. Alice Cummings (Tallahassee, Fla.) led Wellesley at the net with 12 kills. Casi Schwisow (Bellevue, Wash.) added nine kills on ten attempts with zero errors, for a .900 hitting average. Jessica Duff (Milton, Abingdon, UK) chipped in nine kills as well.
Clark was led by first-year Parker Edmonds (Fort Worth, Tex.) with four kills and two blocks and junior Emily Visone (West Hempstead, N.Y.), who finished with nine digs.
The next game for both teams will be against non-conference opponents. Wellesley hosts Bridgewater State College on Friday (5 p.m.) in the first round of the Wellesley Invitational. Clark entertains UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday (Noon).
