Wellesley Volleyball Competes in MIT Invitational

MALDEN, Mass. – The Wellesley College volleyball team opened play at the 2009 MIT Invitational on Friday evening. The Blue dropped a close 3-2 match to Bowdoin at 6:00pm, but rebounded for a 3-1 win over Bridgewater State in the nightcap.

In the opener, Bowdoin took the first match 25-20, but Wellesley responded by winning the next two sets, 25-23 and 25-21. However, Bowdoin took the fourth set, 25-15 to tie the match at 2-2, and then cruised to a 15-3 win in the final set.

In the late match, Wellesley posted a 3-1 win over Bridgewater State with match scores of 25-14, 22-25, 25-13 and 25-13.

Wellesley returns to action tomorrow in the bronze bracket of the tournament. The Blue open with a 10:00am match against Colby, while Vassar and Endicott will also battle at 10.
