Wellesley Volleyball Takes Bronze Bracket Championship at MIT Invite
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Wellesley College volleyball team went 2-0 on day two of the MIT Invitational to win the Bronze bracket championship on Saturday at MIT. The Blue now stand at 6-4 on the season.
Wellesley defeated Colby to open the day's play (box score). The Blue won the first two sets with scores of 25-18 and 25-21. However, Colby rebounded to win the nex two, in close 25-21 and 26-24 sets. Wellesley took the deciding fifth set by a score of 15-12 to advance to the Bronze bracket final.
In the final, Wellesley easily downed Endicott College, 3-0. (box score). The Blue cruised to victory in the first two sets, winning 25-12 and 25-11. In the deciding set, the Blue earned a tough 26-24 win. As a team, Wellesley hit .437 for the match, led by Alice Cummings (Tallahassee, FL) and Isabel Custodio (Powell, OH), who hit .591 and .565, respectively.
Wellesley returns to NEWMAC play on Tuesday, hosting a 7:00pm match against WPI.
