2009 Recap: Wellesley Field Hockey finished its 2009 campaign with a 12-8 overall record and a 6-2 record in the NEWMAC, earning Wellesley the title of regular-season champions. Highlights included wins over Vassar and Bryn Mawr at Seven Sisters and a 3-1 win over Connecticut College, the first time in six tries that the Blue defeated the Camels. Wellesley defeated Wheaton in the NEWMAC tournament quarterfinals, but fell to defending NEWMAC Champion-Springfield in overtime to close the season. Three members of the Blue earned All-Conference awards, Callie Lekas ’10 and Katie Frett ‘11 earned first-team All-NEWMAC and Kate Cushing ’11 was a second-team honoree. Lekas, Frett and Cushing were each named to the All-Region squad.
