Wellesley Golf Takes Fourth Place at Vassar Invitational
Final Individual Results
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Wellesley College golf team took fourth place overall at the 2010 Vassar Invitational held at the par-72, 5,805-yard Dutchess Golf and Country Club.
As a team, Wellesley carded a 340 on day two, taking three strokes off its total of 343 from Saturday. Amherst took the team title, shooting a 325 on day two to finish with 370. Williams and Vassar finsihed second (676) and third (681) ending the tournament just ahead of the Blue (683).
Individually, junior Kim Eaton (Shepherdstown, WV) took five strokes off of her day one 85 to shoot an 80 on day two. Her total of 165 placed her in a tie for third overall. Sophomore Alexis Kelleher (Worcester, MA) and and first-year Cassandra Tavolarella (Vero Beach, FL) finished in a tie for 15th with matching 172's. Kelleher shot an 89 on day two, while Tavolarella posted an 87.
Wellesley senior Soumya Srinagesh (Palo Alto, CA) had a fantastic day two, knocking five strokes off of her season low, to card an 84. She finished tied for 35th with a 183. Also for the Blue, first-year Michelle Cho (La Crescenta, CA) added a second-day 95 to finish with a 185 overall.
Wellesley is back in action at the Mass. State Championships held at Mount Holyoke on Friday.
