Geller, White Earn Lacrosse All-Region Honors
WELLESLEY, Mass. - Wellesley College sophomore lacrosse players Haley Geller (Berkeley, Calif.) and Loretta White (Northamption, Mass.) were recently named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA) All-Region team. Geller and White both earned second-team All-Region honors.
Geller was the team's most biggest offensive threat this season. Wellesley's top scorer, she finished the 2008 season with 62 points off of 55 goals and 7 assists. Geller also racked up 41 caused turnovers, had 36 draw controls and scooped up 36 ground balls. She led the NEWMAC in caused turnovers per game (2.41), was second in goals per game (3.24), and finished fifth in points per game (3.65).
Seeing time at both midfield and defense, White took over the Wellesley defense by the end of the season. Relied on to mark the opposing team's top scorer, she racked up a team-leading 39 ground balls and 43 draw controls, and finished third on the Blue with 21 caused turnovers. White also netted eight goals and added four assists for the Blue, scoring a career-high four goals in a win over Wheaton.
It is the second All-Region selection for Geller and the first for White. Both were named first-team All-NEWMAC this season.
