Lacrosse Qualifies for IWLCA Academic Honors

WELLESLEY, MASS. - After wrapping up a 2008 season in which they went 10-8 and reached the NEWMAC championship game, the Wellesley lacrosse team has qualified for academic honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA).  The IWLCA recognizes teams which have compiled a combined GPA of at least 3.0 during the current academic year.

Additionally, all-NEWMAC defender Dee Garrahan (Fairfax Station, Va.) qualified for the IWLCA's individual honor roll, for junior and senior student-athletes who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.  Garrahan, a Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences major, had a breakout 2008 season in which she finished second in the NEWMAC in caused turnovers (2.18 per game) despite a season-ending injury in April, and earned her first All-Conference selection.
