Wellesley Lacrosse Falls to Tufts University

WELLESLEY, MA – The Wellesley lacrosse team fell to Tufts University, 17-3, on Wednesday afternoon in Wellesley.  The loss evens the Blue's record at 1-1 while Tufts stands at 1-0 on the season.

The Jumbos took a 3-0 lead early in the game off of two goals from Chrissie Attura and another from Emily Johnson.  Wellesley answered with a score from Colette Whitaker (Great Falls, VA) at 18:55 and then quickly followed it up with a goal from Haley Geller (Berkeley, CA) that brought the score to 3-2 with 18:31 in the half.

Tufts went up 4-2 on a goal from Maya Shoham but the Blue's Whitaker converted her free-position shot at 14:44 to cut the lead to 4-3.  Tufts then scored five straight goals to take a 9-3 lead at the half.

The second half was all Tufts as the Jumbos scored eight more times to seal the 17-3 victory.

Shoham led all scorers with four goals for Tufts while Attura and Courtney Thomas each scored three times.  In goal for the Jumbos, Sara Bloom saved 12 shots.

Wellesley's Kristin Jaroncyzk (Manhasset, NY) was solid in net for the Blue picking up 14 saves.

Wellesley is back in action on Saturday at 3:00pm against Mount Saint Vincent at home.
