Wellesley Lacrosse Players Named NEWMAC All-Conference

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 2010 Lacrosse post-season awards on Wednesday.  Wellesley placed three players on the All-Conference team as seniors Loretta White (Northampton, MA) and Molly Morrow (Bow, NH) were named to the first team, and junior Nicole Labbee (Florence, MA) earned second team honors.

A two-time team captain, White earns distinction as a four-time All-NEWMAC player.  The team's top midfielder, this season she took the draw, marked the opponents’ top offensive threats, and produced an average of 1.2 points per game.  White led the team in draw controls with 36 and ended the season ranked fourth overall in the NEWMAC with 2.83 draw controls per game.  She also added 15 goals, four assists, 26 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers.

Morrow, a repeat All-Conference selection, led Wellesley's attack this season.  She recorded 35 goals and 25 assists for 60 points.  Morrow was a consistant offensive threat for the Blue, tallying a goal or an assist in every contest.  The team leader in points and assists, she also ranked fourth in the NEWMAC in assists per game (1.55) and ranked seventh in points per game (3.53).  Morrow also recorded 25 ground balls and 23 draw controls this season.

Labbee earns her first NEWMAC All-Conference award after being named a NEWMAC Player of the Week this season.  She was an anchor on Wellesley's defense, which finished second in the NEWMAC in ground balls and caused turnovers per game. Successful at anticipating the slide and coming up with key checks and ground balls, Labbee finished the season ranked first on the Blue with 42 ground balls and 35 caused turnovers.  Her totals ranked her number-one in the NEWMAC in caused turnovers per game, and fourth in ground balls per game.

The 2010 Wellesley lacrosse team finished with an overall record of 6-10.  The Blue advanced to the NEWMAC Quarterfinals before falling MIT.
