Harvey Named National All-American for Second Straight Year
WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College softball player Jenna Harvey (London, Ontario) capped her outstanding career as a student-athlete with her second-straight national All-America selection. Honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Assocation (NFCA), the senior earned a second-team nod, a year after becoming Wellesley's first softball All-American with a third-team selection.
A three-time All-Region selection as well, Harvey has twice been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player and Pitcher of the Year. In 2008, she threw four no-hitters and racked up 255 strikeouts. She finished the season with an ERA of 0.81 and a 17-5 record.
In four years at Wellesley, Harvey has set career records with 48 wins, 741 strikeouts, 473 innings pitched, 10.97 strikeouts per game and an opposing batting average of .156. She's also thrown six no-hitters during her career, including one perfect game. At the plate, Harvey is second all-time in hits (118) and runs batted in (79) and has the fourth highest career batting average (.308) in Wellesley history.
Wellesley softball finished its season with a school record 30 wins and ranked #22 in Division III. The Blue finished as the NEWMAC Tournament Runner-Up after winning the regular season title with a 13-3 conference mark. In the NCAA tournament, Wellesley picked up wins over Lesley, Rivier and Bridgewater State but fell to Tufts and regional champion Rhode Island College.
In four years of existence, Wellesley softball has racked up 99 wins under head coach Keri O’Meara.
