Wellesley's Harvey Named NEWMAC Pitcher of the Week

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College seJenna Harveynior pitcher Jenna Harvey (London, Ontario, Canada) was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) softball Pitcher of the Week for the period ending March 23, 2008.

In a 3-0-1 week for the Blue, Harvey went 2-0 and helped Wellesley sweep NEWMAC opponent Coast Guard. In 14 innings of work, she struck out 30 batters while allowing only three earned runs off of four hits. In 44 at-bats, opponents are batting just .091 against the senior.

Harvey's best work came on the road in Wellesley's NEWMAC opener, where she had a hand in both wins during a doubleheader sweep of Coast Guard.  In game one, Harvey fired a one-hitter, striking out 16 batters (walking none) and facing the minimum. In game two, Harvey came on in relief to strike out five of the six batters she faced while earning the win.

Wellesley softball is currently in Los Angeles, CA for their spring training trip.  The Blue will play eight games over four days.
