Wellesley's Jenna Harvey Named NEWMAC Pitcher of the Week

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College senior pitcher Jenna Harvey (London, Ontario, Canada) was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) softball co-Pitcher of the Week for the period ending April 13, 2008.  She shares the honor with Coast Guard's Sarah Carter.Jenna Harvey - Photo by Brad Wong

Harvey was dominant on the mound in a 6-0 week for Wellesley. The senior hurler recorded a 3-0 mark in three appearances while also firing a perfect game. On the week, she threw 18 innings for the Blue, with an ERA of 0.39 while striking out 42 batters.

Against Curry College, Harvey threw a six-inning one-hit shutout while striking out 13 batters. The senior was perfect in an 8-0 win over MIT, throwing the 5-inning perfect game while striking out 12 batters. To close her week, Harvey threw a 7-inning two-hitter against Smith in which she struck out the first 11-batters she faced and finished with 17 strikeouts overall.

Harvey earns the Pitcher of the Week honor for the second time this season.  She previously earned the award for her performance the week of March 23rd.

Wellesley softball is currently 19-5-1 on the season with a 10-2 mark in the NEWMAC.  The Blue will next face Framingham State at home on Wednesday at 3:30pm.
